LG unveils its fastest, brightest OLED gaming monitor with 720Hz refresh rate

LG's new UltraGear GX7 monitor with OLED panel can switch between 540Hz 1440p and 720Hz 720p with dual mode.

At CES, LG introduced the 27-inch UltraGear GX7 monitor as its fastest OLED gaming display, which also has high brightness. This advanced panel, which features QHD resolution, has a stunning 540Hz refresh rate and a 0.02ms response time, a speed that the manufacturer claims is about 5,000 times faster than the best human reactions. The $999 monitor is designed with Dual Mode so that gamers can easily switch between 540Hz at 1440p and 720Hz at 720p for a smooth, lag-free experience in competitive games. This monitor is DisplayHDR True Black 500 certified and is ideal for content creators and designers, as it features a true 10-bit panel with 99.5% DCI-P3 color gamut coverage and Delta E<2 color accuracy. It also has VESA ClearMR 21000 certification, ensuring the highest level of motion clarity and eliminating blur in fast-moving images.

In terms of design, LG describes this model as almost borderless and allows for height adjustment, tilt adjustment, horizontal rotation and full screen rotation (Pivot). Unlike many similar models, the back of this monitor is free of bulky protrusions. In terms of connectivity ports, this device is equipped with two HDMI 2.1 ports, DisplayPort 2.1 and a Thunderbolt USB Type-C connection. It also has two USB 3.0 ports and a headphone jack for audio communications, and is fully compatible with Nvidia's G-SYNC and AMD's FreeSync Premium Pro technologies.

LG emphasizes that the Tandem OLED technology in this model should not be confused with RGB V-Stripe technology, as the latter is limited to a maximum of 240Hz and focuses more on text clarity. The monitor also has UL certifications for features such as anti-glare, anti-flicker, and reduced blue light. Pre-orders for the product have begun in the United States, and shipments will begin in early February.
